I promise this is not a guilt article. We know weddings are VERY expensive. This is an options article. Highlighted below are some organizations and resources that our couples have utilized in the past. Some do not cost you anything, others are in lieu of gifts and others are in lieu of wedding favors.
In a December wedding, Jenny and Jim donated for Toys for Tots. They had scrolls with red ribbons for the guests. It was a great way to share the gift of giving with friends and family.
Another wonderful avenue is I Do Foundation (idofoundation.org). It connects couples to registries that donate a percentage of every gift. I Do also allows guests to donate in lieu of a gift and/or couples give to a charity in honor of their guests.
If you are an earth lover, seeds or seedling make fantastic favors. Two options are Heifer.org and Oxfam (oxfamamericaunwrapped.com).
Finally, many brides go for a shorter cut after the wedding. After growing it out for the wedding they can’t wait to chop it off. If you have 10 inches to chop, your hairdresser donates it to Locks of Love or Wigs for Kids (Wigs4Kids.com). Both programs provide wigs for children.
There are so many programs in place. If you have any other favorites pertaining to weddings, please email us at: info@mcgphotography.com
