If you LOVE candid, in-the-moment shots then it is best to keep the shot list short. Bridal magazines often include a 1-2 page shot list for your photographer to capture. We like to take a slightly different approach. We like to be aware of what is important to you, but also have the flexibility to step back and document what is unfolding naturally. We capture the ceremony, first dances, cake cutting, garter and bouquet toss, etc. Ceremonies can be the exception because each pastor, rabbi or officiants has their own set of rules. Below is our starting point and any changes can be discussed before your big day:
Bride getting ready, Bride w. mom / dadBride w. individual bridesmaids, Bride w. all bridesmaids Groom getting ready, Groom w. mom / dad Groom w. individual groomsmen, Groom w. all groomsmen DetailsBRIDE & GROOM, Wedding partyB&G w. grand-parents B&G w. brides parents, B&G w. brides immediate familyB&G w. grooms parents, B&G w. grooms immediate family
Family dynamics are important to share with us (ie blended families, elderly relatives (not very mobile), different last names). We also encourage discussing your shot list with all parents so they are aware of what is important to you as well and everyone is on the same page.
Finally, we want to know any details about the day that are uniquely you or special. We have had brides that have made their own wedding cake, used a Christmas tree as a sign-in book by writing on the ornaments, had fireworks, left in an antique car, had their parents renew their vows as well, loved their shoes more than their dress, and so on.
We want to capture YOUR uniqueness, so please share with us!
