Q: How long have you been wedding photographers?
A: We started photographing weddings in Santa Barbara, California in 2002.  Our first wedding in Charleston was February, 2003.

Q: Is photography your full time job?
A: Yes.  We specialize in people - weddings and portraits.  One of our mentors said ‘Do one thing and do it the best’ which is great advice for any endeavor.

Q: Where did you do your training?
A: We met in the darkroom while getting our training at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.  We’ve continued our education with trade groups both (local and national), literature and seminars.

Q: Are you members of a professional photographic organization?
A: Yes, Professional Photographers of America (www.PPA.com).  Their continued education and seminars help us stay abreast of changes in the industry and keep our art fresh and up to date.

Q: What type of equipment do you use?
A: We use only professional grade Canon cameras, lenses and lighting.

Q: Do you bring back-up equipment?
A: As there are no ‘re-do’s’ on wedding day coverage we make sure we have back up for all of our equipment.

Q: Who will be taking the pictures?
A: We work as a team on the wedding day.  Before the ceremony Corrie is with the ladies as they get ready and James is, conversely, with the men.  But from the time of the ceremony on we work together to be sure to get the best coverage.

Q: What is your primary style?
A: Our style is a mix of candid, photojournalistic and artistic.  Our goal is to get the ‘energy’ of the day in images that will be passed down to future generations.  We do this as unobtrusively as possible.  One of the best compliments we can get is that the couple hardly knew we were there.

Q: Do you work with film or digital?
A: We’re unique in the field of wedding photography in that we’re comfortable in both mediums.  The choice is yours.  If choosing film there is an added premium to cover the cost of film but for the photographic ‘purist’ it’s the only way to go.  On the other hand, digital allows us more control in the final output (color converted to black and white, cropping, color adjustments, etc..).  It’s also a faster turn-around for your viewing and sharing.

Q: Do you shoot mostly color / B&W / or both?
A: We usually do a mix of 50% color and 50% black and white.  Color is often best for the details and location while black and white is better for portraits and timeless images.  We’ll discuss your ratio preferences prior to the final output to get you the best images.

Q: How many images do you take?
A: Whether you choose film or digital we usually average well over a thousand images from the day.  That gives us a good foundation to start from as we edit down to the best of the best.  Depending on how long we’re with you our average is usually over 500.

Q: Are you familiar with our location?
A: Having worked at most of the popular locations in the Charleston area we’re comfortable in many venues.  Whether it’s new to us, or a location we’ve been to many times, we scout the area around one week in advance to check light, foliage, and any changes that may have taken place since our last visit.
